Tenors and basses sought by Water Gap Singers

The Water Gap Singers, under the direction of John Arnedt, are looking for additional tenors and basses for their spring concert on Sunday, May 18 at 4 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Route 94 South.

The concert will feature music by English composers from the 15th Century through the 21st century. Of particular note is the premier performance of Clare Country composed by contemporary composer Terence Deadman. Clare Country is a collection of whimsical poems set to equally whimsical melodies and rhythms. This work will be sung for the first time in England in June of this year after being premiered here in May.

Several other selections require divided bass and/or tenor parts, hence the need for additional voices. Female tenors are welcome.

The Water Gap Singers are in their 24th season and have the reputation of being an amateur chorus with a professional sound. There are no auditions. The only requirement is the ability to match pitches. Additional soprano and alto voices are welcome also. The Water Gap Singers rehearse at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Route 94 South next to the A&P Supermarket from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday night. The group is partially funded by the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Commission. For more information call 908-362-6743.
