Fast food businesses in Blairstown

I've recently moved to Blairstown, and I've noticed there are no fast food places around. I'm not a fast food junkie, but I'm surprised to find None of these types of businesses in town.

Is there any reason? Does the town not want these kind of businesses?

Has there ever been one in town that failed?

I'm really just curious. Thanks!

McDonalds and Subway both failed at the new A&P over the last 10 years.

Really? That's very surprising, considering the traffic the A&P malls gets, and all the young people I see hanging in the parking lot in the evenings. Whoever owns that mall much charge quite a lot in rent.

Has anyone heard anything about the town board being resistant to new business opening in town? Someone mentioned that to me while I was shopping at True Value. I can't see why it may be, but is it even true?

I thought it was surprising too ...but when you really think of it..alot of businesses fail cause not enough people...we had curves, a muscle man shop, and a few others ...ku plunk ...they went ....

Good ideas but I assume there is just not enough population in the area. What is the number, only 17% of all start up businesses make it? That number may even be lower.

The rent the A&P charges for that space must also be part of the reason.

Last year I contacted Trader Joes about opening at the old A & P. I was told that the town would not allow a store like that in the area because it would take away from A & P. Too bad. We really need a place like that. Many folks including us make a cooler run down to their Wane or Florham Park locations to stock uip monthly.

There was a McDonalds in the "new" A&P when it opened and then one moved in next door, but it failed. Fedup is right, Subway failed too. Local kids can go to Columbia for McDonalds since it is open 24/7... or drive to Newton or Hackettstown. I'm surprised they are allowing Tractor Supply to move in... I'm sure it will take away from NAPA.
