Free Talk: "GMOs You Ought to Know"
Learn the ins and outs of genetically modified food and how it affects you!
BLAIRSTOWN, NJ -- On Thursday, June 19, from 7 to 9 pm, Sandra Roberts, geneticist and educator, will present a talk entitled, "GMOs You Ought to Know" at the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch of the Warren County Library on Route 94 in Blairstown, NJ. The lecture will cover the science behind and the application of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in our food system. This talk is FREE and open to the general public.
Roberts currently works for the Foodshed Alliance as a coordinator of the Farm-to-School program. This talk is designed for the everyday consumer and will help to make sense of the dizzying debate concerning the use of GMOs in the food industry. The goal is to empower consumers to make informed decisions concerning these products. There will be time reserved to ask questions and discuss current topics surrounding GMOs.
"Whether they choose to eat genetically altered food or not, all consumers deserve to understand what they are putting into their bodies and how those crops can affect our food system and the environment on a larger scale," said Roberts. "I hope this talk will help answer questions about GMOs and guide people to make informed choices."
